5 Steps To Take Immediately After An Uber Accident In Manhattan

The presence of popular transportation hailing services such as Uber has changed the landscape of transport in Manhattan, but when an accident involving one of these services happens you get lost. What steps you need to take after an Uber accident is important to understand so that you or the Uber driver can ensure you are safe and your legal rights are protected. Here are five essential steps, including contacting a Manhattan Uber Accident Lawyer, to take immediately after an Uber accident in Manhattan:

1. Ensure Safety And Call 911

Your and everyone else’s safety is the highest priority. This means that if anyone, including yourself, gets hurt, just dial 911. In the case this happens the victim should try to shift to a safe area that does not have a lot of traffic, for instance, the sidewalk. However, even in cases where no serious signs are observed, it is important to seek assistance: some can develop after some time or in several hours or days.

You should ask police for report when they get to the scene. These official documents may come in handy when filing for insurance compensations or in any legal proceedings.

2. Gather Key Information

Try to gather as much data as possible on the scene that happened. Details to note include:

  • Uber Driver’s Info: Full name, phone number, address, driver’s license number, insurance policy number and type.
  • Vehicle Details: Brand, vin number, color, and uber account number.
  • Accident Location: Types intersections in Manhattan, types of identifiable places, or coordinate coordinates.
  • Witnesses: Other details of anybody who eyewitnesses the incident.

Pictures of the automobiles, the scene of the accident, and any evident extremity should also be captured. Among these can be used as proof of insurance or for legal purposes.

3. Report The Accident To Uber

To some extent, report the case using Uber’s app. In the help drop down list, choose ‘Trip and Fare Review’ and then ‘Report a Safety Incident’. Getting help from Uber’s support team will lead to actions being taken to resolve the accident. Also, Uber has obligation insurance that could cater for your medical bills or loss, whichever the case. Reporting the accident makes this coverage to be taken into account.

4. Seek Medical Attention

However, if you think that you are okay, you should go see a doctor right away. In some cases, the patient may actually show no signs of an injury at all during the accident, but only develop symptoms later – it could be a whiplash, internal injuries, etc. Immediate treatment for a number of reasons preserves your wellbeing and establishes a connection between your injuries and the accident.

5. Seek The Services Of A Personal Injury Attorney

An Uber accident claim is a tricky affair because it involves Uber, the driver, and at times other drivers. A Manhattan Uber Accident Lawyer can help you understand your rights. Still, they should also be able to negotiate with Uber’s insurance company. Sue if the case needs it to arrive at a reasonable settlement. A skilled lawyer will make sure you are awarded for the doctors’ bills, your lost pay, and for the pain and suffering or any other loss.

Conclusion

The Uber accidents can sometimes be overwhelming, but it is important to act appropriately soon after the accident. Stay safe, take pictures of the incident and if possible, seek the services of a lawyer. If you have been in an Uber accident in Manhattan, then you should consult an experienced Manhattan Uber Accident Lawyer at NYlawnet, as walking through this process is not easy, and ensuring that you get warranted compensation is quite crucial.
